Your children come first at Ysgubor Fach. Staff are chosen for their proven experience, qualifications, enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine love for the children. The staff at Ysgubor Fach take great pride in offering the best service that they can to the children - whether it is planning a challenging activity for the children, to giving a tired child a story and cuddle, we accommodate to the needs of the child.
We are a small nursery and all the staff know the children well - this allows them to understand the needs of your child. The staff will provide you with a daily report and will complete developmental reports for your child.
All nursery staff are qualified to, or working towards NVQ 3 in Childcare and education, or have a NNEB certificate. All staff are fully DBS checked. All our staff are trained in paediatric first aid, they have completed the safeguard training, and food hygiene. We update training regularly, including First Aid, child protection, safeguarding, learning through play, behaviour management and food hygiene.
From a young age I knew I wanted to own my own business and for the last 20 years I have found myself working in childcare: from a Learning Support Assistant in a school, to working with children and families providing restbite support working for Barnardos, to opening up my own nursery. My husband and I set our sights on a new business venture and in January 2015 we opened the doors to Ysgubor Fach Creche, and we haven’t looked back!
I love working closely with children and families. Getting to know the children and their families is really important to me – I love making bonds with the children and their family. Providing a home-from-home environment and being able to support any family needs is really important to me. As working parents ourselves we pride ourselves in our flexible childcare approach, in working with the parents and children and their specific needs. We are one big happy family here.
I have been teaching and working in child care for over 9 years. I started my career in a Middle School in the Midlands and later worked in a Private School in Swansea. I joined Ysgubor Fach as the Nursery and Business Manager in January 2019, and since working for Ysgubor Fach I have built great relationships with children, staff and parents. I love every aspect of working with the children. The best part of working in early years is seeing children grow and develop. Knowing that we are building a great team here in supporting and nurturing the children individually makes me so proud to be a part of the Ysgubor Fach team. The Ysgubor Fach parents and children are all like our extended family, so coming to work is like coming to my second home.
"Hello, I'm Bob. I own Ysgubor Fach Creche with my wife Eleri. I have lived in Pontcowin Farm all my life and five years ago we decided to diversify and start up our own creche. Being parents ourselves, Eleri and I understand the struggle which comes with childcare and going out to work, so we pride ourselves in offering a flexible service which caters 100% for parents and children. We have fun at Ysgubor Fach and the children are always well looked after - I can only give credit to the staff, they are fantastic. Come to see us and see for yourselves, we look forward to meeting with you.
I asked the children what they thought of me, and thought that this would give you a better reflection...
"Bob's funny" "Bob's my best friend" "Bob is fun" "He's silly"
I'll take all of those comments - the children are fantastic here, and we really do have some good fun!
I have worked in childcare for the last 8 years; I have worked in nurseries and as a Teaching Assistant in many different settings. I have completed my NVQ Level 5 in Childcare Management and Leadership. I joined Ysgubor Fach in February 2019 and have enjoyed all the different aspects of the job. I love working with the children, planning and assessing their developmental milestones. I am mainly in charge of developing the planning and the different themes which we run – I enjoy being creative and giving the children lots of different opportunities to learn.
Working with the families of our children is important to me – every child learns differently and at their own pace and I love working 1:1 in meeting the different needs of the children. I love my job. The setting for the children I think is outstanding - it has such a good feel good factor and the different environments allow the children to explore and develop naturally, as it should be. Being there to witness the children achieving their first milestones is a wonderful feeling.
I studied Health and Social Care at Bangor University and gained a second-class honours degree. Since moving back to West-Wales I have worked at Ysgubor Fach. Since working here I have found it really enjoyable, I love working with the staff and the parents in ensuring that the children are looked after and given the best care. I work at Ysgubor Fach every day and get the opportunity to move around the different room, working with a variety of age groups. I’m currently in the process of completing my NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. I love my job and find it very rewarding and interesting as every day is different.
I knew from a young age that I enjoyed working with children and in school at GCSE I studied Childcare development. I started working at Ysgubor Fach in April 2019 and I loved every minute of working with the children and the staff. I am well on my way to completing the NVQ Level 2 in Childcare.
I particularly love working with the babies and seeing them grow and develop. Every day is a different day – I have formed very special bonds with the children and parents. The best part about my job is that I get greeted with a big smile and cuddle when I arrive in the morning. I love working with all the Ysgubor Fach staff, they are a great team also. I love the fact that I can do on the job training, gain qualifications and love the job that I do!
Children have always been my first love. After completing my NNEB at 18 I spent many years working as Private Nanny in Belgium, Canada and the UK. I joined Ysgubor Fach in November 2018 after taking some time to bring up my two sons at home.
Seeing the children settle in, grow and develop is something I’m passionate about. I have formed really good relationships with all the children and I love nothing more than to get on the floor with children, learning through play. I love every aspect of my job.
I am currently at Cardiff Met. University studying Sports Coaching . I started volunteering at Ysgubor Fach in June 2015. With the exception of Bob and Eleri, I am the longest standing member of staff! I love working with the children – I love the hands on approach, and learning through play is my favourite thing to do. I enjoy taking the children outside and exploring within the different learning environments.
I know all the children very well and have seen children grow - from their first steps to wanting to play football and run around outside. I have built good relationships with the parents, staff and children. I really enjoy all aspects of the job!
I really enjoy working with children and have done so for many years. I started my career in Glangwili day nursery and years later moved onto to become the manager of the day nursery in Lampter university. In 2006 I set up my own nursery in Lampter and ran this for many years. I had 3 children of my own so I gave up my nursery and had a career break. Once my children started school, I started at Ysgubor Fach. I’m now back doing what I love – being with the children.
I love all of our children and love spending time in getting to know them. We have fun and there’s nothing better than watching them learn and grow. As a mum myself, I know how important the early years in particular are and knowing that your child is safe and happy in a setting they love is so important. I am responsible for ensuring that all of our lovely children get good nutrition and a variety of food, I also plan the cookery activities for our children. My time is spent both in the kitchen and doing activities with the children.
I started off my career working in the leisure and hospitality industry as an assistant manager. I moved to Carmarthen in the early 90’s and worked in the family business running Max Evans in Carmarthen. Being the owner of a successful business I learnt a lot but having two boys of my own meant having a career break.
I started at Ysgubor Fach in September and I’m thoroughly enjoying being back working with young children again. I decided to change career and move into childcare after many years of enjoyment with the children at Carmarthen Town Football Club.
I enjoy working closely with the children and families in such a small, friendly community. Watching them learn and grow is a privilege. It’s true what they say that your children grow up so quickly, so it’s lovely to be enjoying the early years again with our Ysgubor Fach children.
I have always wanted to work with children. I have worked at a nursery setting for the last two and half years. Prior to this I achieved a BA degree in Primary Education. During my time studying I carried out placements in primary schools with children aged 5-11. I have experience leading and teaching Sunday school and love thinking of fun activities for children. After completing my degree, I went to work at a nursery where I completed NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. I am passionate about learning and progressing in my career and I have developed my knowledge by voluntarily carrying out courses in Speech and Language, Special Educational Needs, Effective Teaching and Learning etc. I am currently doing a Level 3 in Play work and I’m really looking forward to learning new skills so I can implement them at Ysgubor Fach.
I feel privileged to watch children grow and develop, and love playing a part of their educational journey.
I completed my A-levels last year and began volunteering in Ysgubor Fach in September. Despite having never worked with children before, I have found the job very rewarding and enjoyable. I love the homely feel of Ysgubor Fach; this has helped me settle into my role and also allowed me to form close bonds with the children and staff.
One of the main aspects I love about working with children is getting to know each child’s unique personality and helping to shape their characters. I am looking forward to my future at Ysgubor Fach and working towards obtaining my childcare qualifications.
"Children are active, happy and engaged in their play at this service"
“Meithrinfa Ysgubor Fach Creche provides a warm and nurturing environment for children where they are supported to grow, develop and have fun.”

We are ‘home-from-home', flexible, affordable and friendly
I can leave my boy knowing he is safe, happy, being stimulated and getting an education. Could not ask for more. The staff are brilliant with the children and keep me updated with everything our son does throughout the day
